Vanilla, Chocolate, & Strawberry Milk

Neapolitan Milk | With Lovely, This week, I discovered three important things: 1) you can get adorable little glass bottles for $1.50 each at Daiso, 2) dresses make excellent backdrops (this one’s from Target), and 3) homemade flavored milk is delicious and incredibly easy to make.

I started by making vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate syrups (which also happen to be delicious over ice cream). I made just enough for two 3/4 c bottles of each flavor, but you can easily double (or triple, or quadruple) them to make more! Once you’ve made the syrup (recipes below), mix 2 Tbsp syrup with 3/4 c milk, stir, and enjoy! Neapolitan Milk | With Lovely, Vanilla Syrup

  1. Simmer 1/4 c milk with the seeds from one vanilla bean and 1/4 c sugar in a small saucepan, stirring occasionally, until syrupy (about 15 min)
  2. Refrigerate until chilled

Strawberry Syrup

  1. Combine 1/4 c chopped strawberries, 2 Tbsp water, 1/4 c sugar, and 1 tsp vanilla extract in a small saucepan over medium heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, until strawberries become mushy and sugar dissolves
  2. Strain mixture through a fine sieve (I ate the strawberry pulp by the spoonful, but you could also set it aside to pour over pancakes)
  3. Refrigerate until chilled

Chocolate Syrup

  1. Combine 1/4 c hot cocoa powder, 8 oz of high-quality chopped dark chocolate, 1/4 c sugar, and 1 tsp vanilla extract in a small saucepan over low heat and simmer, stirring constantly, until chocolate and sugar are melted
  2. Refrigerate until chilled

Neapolitan Milk | With Lovely, These were all very tasty! The strawberry milk had a nice deep strawberry flavor and the chocolate milk was rich and not too sweet, but the vanilla milk was my favorite! It tasted just like vanilla ice cream in milk form. Neapolitan Milk | With Lovely, With Lovely, K

You should! They’re so easy and delicious. You could also experiment with different flavors – I think I’m going to try blackberry and peach next

Ooo! Chocolate milk is my favourite. ♥ I had no idea you could actually make your own chocolate milk.
