I should warn you, this dessert is a little dangerous: ridiculously easy, super quick, and completely addictive.
You can make a fool in just about any flavor. All you need is some whipping cream and a bit of fruit. But in my opinion, pretty much everything is better with Nutella. And the Nutella/strawberry combo reminds me of my favorite Parisian crêpes – très délicieux!
Aren’t these fresh strawberries lovely? Definitely one of my favorite parts of summer.
To make the compote for your Nutella strawberry fools, chop 1/2 c of berries into quarters and cook them with 2 Tbsp sugar and 1 tsp vanilla over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes or until mushy.
Chill berry mixture in the freezer for about 15 minutes or until cool. Meanwhile, beat 1 c whipping cream with 2 Tbsp sugar and 1/2 tsp vanilla until soft peaks form.
When cream and berry mixture are ready, microwave 1/4 c Nutella for about 1 minute or until melted.
To assemble, place a dollop of whipped cream in the bottom of a mason jar or glass. Layer with a spoonful of berry compote and a generous drizzle of Nutella and repeat as desired.
This recipe makes two full jars, although I’d recommend filling the jars halfway and making four servings.
I filled mine to the top with the honest intent of taking some pretty photos and then splitting them with R. Of course, once the photos were done, we proceeded to grab spoons and quickly devour one full jar each … like I said, dangerous! But yummy. Very, very yummy.
